Welcome to 7th Grade Science. I am very excited for you to join my classroom! This year, our focus is on life science. We will be looking at how organisms are made, how they become diverse, and what impacts the environment has on all living things. We will talk about some awkward topics. I understand I have a room of middle schoolers so vocabulary like "sexual reproduction" may be funny. However, I expect you to act mature and handle these topics accordingly. I love to have fun with our content. However, I have very high expectations for student behavior in my classroom. Your behavior determines our classroom atmosphere. My job as your teacher is to guide and assist you in your learning any way I can!
- Mr. Wedemeier
REQUIRED MATERIALS:
> pencil
> assignment book
> most importantly a hard working attitude.
There will be topics that are hard or you don't like. There will be assignments of the same fashion. My expectation of you is to give your best effort at whatever you are doing. There may be times where you need to bring other materials to class but I will try to let you know in advance (or have a sign in the doorway).
CLASSROOM GUIDELINES:
1. Be on time to class and bring all required materials with you.
2. Complete your work on time.
3. Work together and give your best effort.
4. Respect EVERYONE and EVERYTHING in this room.
CLASS COMPONENTS:
Reading:
There will be reading to do in class. Reading to gain information is an important skill. If I didn't think the material was important, I wouldn't have you spend time reading it...so I must think it is important...so READ!
Formative Projects/Assignments:
Hands-on projects and assignments will be a big portion of your learning. These assignments will be used to deepen your knowledge of the material and apply to other concepts of your learning.
Summative Assessments:
Your job for EVERY assessment is to study and do your best. The point of an assessment is for you to show me what you have learned.
